Tata Steel's Art in Industry Camp-cum-Exhibition concluded with fanfare

The art camp-cum-exhibition Art in Industry organised by Tata Steel at Jayadev Bhavan in Bhubaneswar concluded today. Mr. Debi Prasad Mishra, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Culture and Higher Education was the Chief Guest on the concluding ceremony along with Mrs. Surekha H. Nerurkar and Mr. Hridayeshwar Jha, Vice President (Odisha Project) amongst others.

Mr. Mishra also thanked Tata Steel and said, "Since the time of J N Tata, Tatas have been promoting art and culture of the country. I hope Tata Steel would take this camp to higher level with their increased activities in Odisha".

Mrs. Nerurkar said, "Odisha is rich in culture and Tata Steel would promote the event". She suggested that like Jamshedpur, the school and college students should be involved in Art in Industry camp to ensure wider participation.

Addressing the august gathering, Mr. Jha said, "Tata Steel organised this camp for strengthening culture and thereby social life". 'Art in Industry' would be made a robust platform for the artists of the state, he pointed out.

Twenty-one reputed and budding painters participated in the art camp organised at Jaydev Bhawan in Bhubaneswar from 15th to 18th January 2010. The painters were presented with mementoes by the Chief Guest.

Mr. Rajesh Chintak, Chief Resident Executive (CRE), Tata Steel, Odisha, Mrs. Jenny Shah, Head, CC & CFE and other dignitaries graced the occasion.

Tata Steel has taken a lead role in the field of art and culture. The concept of Art-in-Industry dates back to 1943 when Tata Steel was one of the prize-donors of an exhibition and sale of art held in J.J. School of Art, Mumbai, wherein artists were invited to compete for prizes and scholarships. The aim was to bring the talent of lesser-known artists to the notice of leading industrialists and patrons of art.
